Do you find yourself with a stale odor when looking around the dark areas of your commercial structure? The issue could be due to drainage issues on your floor. Let’s find out how to ensure that your home is clean and your plumbing is in great shape.
Floor Drains Are a Part of Your Main Sewer Line
Most mechanical and stock rooms located on the ground floor in large commercial buildings include a floor drain. You might think it is to avoid flooding in your entire building in an emergency or accident, but it serves another function. The stack that allows sewer gasses to escape get usually located in the kitchens and restrooms. Floor drains to aid in helping the wastewater, and other gasses get to the main sewer line. Their flexible seal allows gas to flow away without entering your building. At the same time, liquids and solids continue to flow through the pipeline.
The Solution Is Often a Bucket of Soapy Water.
Suppose the maintenance personnel does not sweep the floors in spaces that aren’t get used. In that instance, the drain trap at the bottom of the sink may dry completely, releasing a unique odor into your room. The trap’s water creates a flexible seal that helps keep gasses from flowing through the pipe. Pour one or two liters of water down the floor drain to freshen the trap. If the drain and trap were left untreated for an extended time and you’re not sure, you may have a big problem on your hands.
Ignore Your Stock Room Drains, and You Will Have More Problems
If the drainage drain on your floor is allowed to dry and get filled with dirt and other debris in time, you may get faced with a blocked primary sewer line. Although it might seem strange to keep a space that is not clean, having floors cleaned every week at least can stop this costly and unattractive clog from forming. When the floor has to get mopped down, flush the water bucket and flush it down the drain.
